NEW YEAR '2017'

It’s 31 st December today. With the twinkle of an eye the whole of 2016 passed. This year many loved ones left, but at the same time many new friends came in to lighten up our lives. Tomorrow is 1 st January, 2017.  The only New Year resolution I take for 2017 is to learn from the mistakes I made in 2016 and improve upon them.  Study a little more. Love a little more. Be a little happier. Be a little more creative. Understand a little more. Learn a little more. Hate a little less. Be a little less sad. Waste time a little less. Value my friends and family a little more. Find some new hidden talents inside of me. Help all those who are in need. And at last promise to be a better friend, daughter, student and sister. I hope that 2017 brings happiness in everyone’s life; it removes hate from our society and spread love as far as possible. “TOMORROW IS THE FIRST BLANK PAGE OF A 365 PAGE BOOK. WRITE A GOOD ONE!” HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

'Freedom', They Call It!

Up in the sky, I see... Birds flying with their wings wide open. Beautiful, they were... Freedom to fly, it was! Coming little down, I see... A bird sitting on the roof and singing. Sweet, it sounded... Freedom to sing, it was! Then, a little more low, I see... Many trees dancing on the beats of the winds. Entertaining and enjoying, they were... Freedom to dance, it was! Finally, around me, I see... People of various types, Shouting and fighting, Accusing and beating, Lying and proving themselves. Horrible, it was to look at... Then, a small kid coming to me and saying " 'Freedom', they call it! " Oh! my countrymen, I would say that not being able to speak, Not having hands or legs, Not having ears and nose, Is better! For nature has none of them... But still knows the meaning of 'Freedom'! For we have all, But still don't know the meaning of 'Freedom'! SANA

LIFE IS INCOMPLETE WITHOUT A TEACHER!

Teachers play a very important role in our lives. They not only teach us '2 + 2= 4' or 'earth is spherical in shape' but also many things about life. Moral teachings. I don't know about other students, but, at-least in my life my teachers play a very important role and they have taught me a lot. Each one of my teachers taught me something or the other which was useful at every step in my life.  My late principal, Mrs. F. Abraham, she was a great lady. Although we never got the chance to talk to her seldom like we used to with other teachers, (after all she was 'as busy as a bee') but still, whenever she used to come in the assembly, she taught something good and useful. I remember, every year, in the investiture's ceremony, she used to read passages from the Bible. At that time, I found it really boring, but still I had to listen to it. Then, some odd day, when I had problems, I used to close my eyes and remember what all she said and had faith in what...

"INDIA IS A DEMOCRATIC STATE WITH NO DEMOCRATIC VALUES" - AGAINST THE MOTION

I would positively stand against this motion. I would say, with all the confidence I have, that India is a democratic state WITH democratic values. First of all we need to understand the meaning of the term 'democracy'.  'Democracy' means that a country which is not run by a king or a queen. The people elect their leaders by themselves and for the good of themselves. And, India is the biggest democracy in the world.  Then, we come to democratic values. It is clearly stated in the Constitution that we are all equal and we are free to do whatever we want to. But, this does not mean that we harm others by our actions. A person cannot be compelled to do something that he/she does not want to do. We have access to education, water, food, electricity, etc. We live with dignity, We live with peace. There is 'Unity In Diversity'. We are free to follow any religion and practice any religion. The former Chief Justice, Leila Seth, wrote a poem that explains the de...

A BEAUTIFUL POEM BY SAROJINI NAIDU

"In The Bazaars of Hyderabad" is a poem written by Sarojini Naidu in early 20th century. She was a freedom fighter and was a part of the Swadeshi Movement.During that time, Indian newspapers were banned, so she thought of inspiring people through her poems.  The poem takes place in the markets of Hyderabad. Hyderabad is a city which is the meeting point of the Hindu and Islamic cultures. Therefore, the wares sold by the people there, fulfill the need of every class of the society - rich or poor/ Hindu or Muslim. The poet provides us a beautiful view of colours, sounds smells, tastes and sights of an Indian Bazaar. She has touched upon all five vibrant senses of the human body to describe the Indian Bazaar.  Visual depiction is described by the use of lively colours at the start of the poem. She questioned the merchants about what were they selling, to which the merchants answered that they were selling silver and crimson coloured turbans, purple brocade tunics, mirrors...

ECLIPSE

The Moon loved the Sun, But the Sun did not know about this fun... While coming up herself, she saw him  going down, But the Sun never noticed the lovely in the town... She tried to come up during the day, But failed, 'cuz he shone brightly on the hay... She tried to tell him in many ways, But the Solar System had its own ways.. Until one day when they had to meet, She was excited and ready to greet... The time finally came, which she couldn't miss, It was a beautiful day and was known as 'ECLIPSE' ! SANA
