The biggest
problem with humans is that they don’t realize the value of people until they
leave us. And it’s not like I don’t face this problem, I face it too. When that
person is there with us, we can hate him/her, we can love them, we can
underestimate them, and we can do all sorts of stuff. But then that not-so-happy
day comes and those people leave us. This happened to me about 2-3 times. The
second or third time I realized the value of people as someone really close to
me left me.
Last year on
the 12th of February my dearest principal left me. When she was alive,
I remember taking out imperfections in every decision she took. ‘Why did she cancel the picnic?!’, ‘Why does
she come so late to the assembly?!’ etc-etc. I accept I said all of this, but
whenever we had a special assembly and she read something from the Bible or
read out some moral story, I always listened to them carefully. One of the
important teachings that she gave us was “Children, everything happens for
good. If someone leaves you, it is for some reason. You should never lose hope.”
Maybe, it
was meant to be. Maybe, she left us so that we would become more responsible
girls, HER responsible girls. She always addressed us as HER children,
not her students, not her school’s children, but HER own girls. She was so cute
and chubby, I always wanted to pull her cheeks and hug her, and I am sure she
would have not been offended if I did that. I regret not doing that.
The most
important thing that I learned after she left was the value of people. I learnt
that we should value each and every person and moment of our lives. We never
know when all those lovely people and moments will be taken away from us.
