ALLAHABAD DIARIES

A lot had been happening in my life past 1 week. Rajesh uncle's death and then one of my very dear friend's mother passed away the same week. I was shattered and shocked. I believed the fact that anyone can leave us at any moment. Any unexpected thing can happen. Therefore, it's necessary that we cherish the moments that we are living presently.
These incidents had led my mother and father to postpone their official work trips. As everything was in a better condition after a week's time, Mummy and Papa decided to complete their work. Papa had to go to Araria and Mummy had to go to Allahabad. I couldn't stay in Lucknow alone so I had to go with Mummy. Although it was just a two days' trip yet I really did not want to go. Somehow Mummy and Papa convinced me to go.
On the morning of 5th June we booked an Ola cab for Charbagh Bus Station. Again an unexpected incident took place. We were on our way and suddenly a big car (probably Duster) came honking at high speed. It kind of hit our car a bit but our driver somehow managed to prevent an accident from occurring. The other car's driver stopped his car and told us to do the same. He was shouting and yelling at our driver. In that car there were a few young boys of 20 or 22 years age. They started hitting and shouting at our driver. It was their fault completely, but they were blaming our driver for it all. They had guns with them so we couldn't say anything. We were continuously dialling 100 (police number), but the call was unreachable. After about half an hour they left our driver and let us go. They took a picture of our cab's number plate and they also took away the mobile phone of our driver. I had thankfully noted down their car's number so a complaint was lodged against them later on by our driver. We all were panicked and scared. We moved on. We reached the Bus Station at about 9.55 am. We found our bus and took our seats. It was an air-conditioned bus. It would take about 4 hours to take us to Allahabad. On our way I was listening to music and later I watched a movie on my phone.
We reached Allahabad by 2 pm. Mummy's office driver had come to pick us up. We reached the office and had lunch. One of Mummy's colleague's daughter is my friend who lives in Allahabad. We had met in an official wedding in Lucknow, one year back. Aunty said that she'll call her daughter in some time. By the time I finished my lunch, she came. Her name is Anu. There was a room upstairs in the office. We went there, sat down and started talking. In the evening, when our mothers were free from their office work, they took us to Sangam. It was beautiful.
It was late and dark so we couldn't enjoy much. We, therefore, decided to go there the next morning again. The driver dropped us at our hotel. We went to our room and changed clothes, had dinner and then went off to sleep. The next morning we woke up at 5am and went to Sangam. Anu and aunty also came along. We went for boating. For the first time, I saw the two rivers, Ganga and Yamuna meeting. Both were of different colours. We saw the beautiful sunrise. The scene was exquisite. We clicked a lot of pictures.
We then went to Naini bridge. It is the new bridge constructed at Allahabad and it is constructed in British style.
After that, we told Rinku Bhaiya (our driver) to take us to some nice place to have chaai. He took us to a chaai ki tapri and we had a very nice morning chaai.
Then we went to the office and had breakfast. Anu and I had to go to Anand Bhavan. Anu, Anant uncle, Rinku Bhaiya and I went to Anand Bhavan. It was the house of Jawaharlal Nehru. It was a huge house, almost a villa. It had many belongings of the Nehru family. Even in those times, Chacha Nehru had every possible latest technology thing. The rooms were very well organized.
We were not allowed to take photographs there so I couldnt take nice pictures. In the same campus there was the planetarium, also known as Tara Mandal, in Hindi. We saw a 45 minutes show there, which was known as "FROM THE EARTH TO THE UNIVERSE". We enjoyed that show. It was very interesting. It told us about the different planets and also the milky way and other things. We then returned to the office and had lunch. The day soon got over and the Allahabad journey came to an end.
At the end of the day, I was actually glad that I went to Allahabad because - 1) my mood changed. 2) For two days I forgot about all the bad things that were happening. 3) I met a friend after one year.

We celebrate Republic Day on 26th January every year as a remembrance of our Constitution. The Constitution of India came into effect from 26th January, 1950 and made India a completely independent republic . We also celebrate the Constitution Day on 26th November because on 26th November 1949 we adopted our Constitution. The Constitution is also the supreme law of the land and none can violate the provisions of the Constitution. I wonder how difficult is it to understand the Indian Constitution because we have a Preamble to the Constitution which is the basic structure of the Constitution and which tells us the main aims and what is the Indian Constitution all about. Our ancestors, freedom fighters gave us this Constitution to have a definite and written set of laws/rules which would be followed throughout the years. The Constitution declares all the citizens as equal and cannot be discriminated on any ground. Being a political science student, I studied the Constitution, the arti...

Death & Numb Feelings

TW: THIS POST TALKS ABOUT DEATH AND EMOTIONS RELATED TO IT, WHICH MAYBE PROVOKING.  Today, I was watching an English show and the particular episode was about someone passing away. It reminded me of the time between 2020- till date and all the people I lost during this time period.  I also realized how during this whole hustle of battling corona and life I had actually not gotten the time to even mourn properly. We all lost so many people during Corona and we couldn't even be there with our loved ones because of the fear of the spreading virus. Adulting hit a little more when I also realized that due to college and being so far away I couldn't attend funerals of my loved ones.  I cried watching the episode today. It felt good to get a little weight off my chest because hearing about deaths during Covid made me so numb that I couldn't even cry. I know that becoming completely numb about feelings is not healthy, but I guess that's just how I became during Covid and its st...
